Fareham Petanque Club Singles – 21 April 2018

After some late entries, eventually we had 19 players on an April Saturday that started bright and sunny –  a lovely Spring day, with just a brief rain shower early afternoon. The morning leagues were hard fought with some unexpected successes! The afternoon’s main competition was won by Mark, narrowly beating Jackie Churcher in the final. This was Mark’s fifth time of winning the Fareham Singles competition – a record that will be hard to beat!. Last year’s winner David Kilshaw put up a good fight, but this year finished third. The main consolage was won by Sue Mac after a hard-fought match with Don.

The plate was run as a 3-game snake of 11 players. Plate winner was Paul Haywood, with a score of 3W +28, and George was runner up with a close score of 3W +25.

A big thank you to Lois, who not only organised the food but also played. A new “serve yourself” lunch format was being tried, and was well-received by all. Thanks also to Sheila and Sue for organising the bacon butties and baking cakes, and to Mark as scorer.
