Congratulations to David Kilshaw, who won today’s 2017 Club Singles competition at Fareham Petanque Club, taking the title of “Singles Champion” from last year’s winner Mark Robertshaw in a hard-fought and tense final.
22 competitors took part in the annual competition, which has been held by Fareham Petanque Club (formerly Limesdowne Pétanque Club) for over 20 years. The competition enjoyed warm weather and bright August sunshine and saw some great play from experienced and new players alike, including spirited efforts by three FPC junior members – Josh, Tyler and Max. The morning was played as leagues, with the top two from each league being joined by the next best six overall to play in the main knockout competition in the afternoon. Players who did not qualify for the Main competed in a snake-format Plate competition.
Thanks to Competitions Secretary Malcolm for a well-run day, which ended with many bottles of wine being presented as prizes. Thanks also to Mary and Marion for providing lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
