Fareham Club Twinning

The twinning took place in Quiberon with 12 members enjoying the hospitality, including the Scottish contingent. Things kicked off on Friday 27th with lunch hosted by Alain and Christiane. In the evening we had a reception with the Deputy Mayor of Quiberon. Key treats included Chris mangling the French language!

Saturday morning started with an early shower followed by sunny and breezy conditions. We enjoyed a lovely barbeque at Quiberon Petanque Club followed by a 3 game doubles competition with the “Twinners” (British and French) taking on Quiberon. Best “Twinners” were Sheila and Laurent who came 3rd overall. Special praise to Lois and Mike Moss who were the only all British team and didn’t come last! There was one Fanny on Saturday but what happens in France, stays in France! Saturday evening, we were treated to Paella cooked by Alain at the local Church Hall.

Sunday morning was again sunny but quite windy. A two game Melee took place at Quiberon Petanque Club for the “Twinners”. David and Laurent and Carrie and Malcolm both won two games. Alain and Christiane again hosted lunch and later on a final meal in the evening.

A massive thank you to Alain and Christiane as hosts, Richard as organiser and to Laurent for arranging accommodation. A fabulous weekend and we look forward to the hosting our French friends in Fareham in 2021.
